Blatter: Do not blame me .. I do not take responsibility for others
Says Sepp Blatter, president of the International Federation of
Football Associations (FIFA), that he could deal with personal criticism
against him on allegations of corruption affected his foundation but it
does not "bear any responsibility" for the actions of members of the
Executive Committee.
In an article in the weekly magazine to be published Friday by FIFA,
Blatter said that the next elections, which will look for a successor
would be a "side event", but reforms are needed because "the future of
FIFA is at stake."
And hit the chaos throughout the FIFA after 14 names received from the
sports marketing managers and officials of the Football prominent among
them many officials at FIFA headquarters in Zurich on the list of
accusations by the US Justice Department in late May to them of bribery,
money laundering and fraud.
Among these officials, FIFA Vice Chairman Jeffrey Web of the Cayman
Islands and Eugenio Figueiredo, of Uruguay, both arrested, as well as
former vice FIFA president Jack Warner of Trinidad and Tobago.
Among the names that responded to the indictment Costa Rican Eduardo
Lee, who was elected member of the Executive Committee and responsible
development in the FIFA Julio Rocha of Nicaragua and Nicolas Leoz former
member of the Executive Committee of Paraguay.
Blatter wrote in Amuda: "The situation of public anger towards FIFA in
recent weeks Astahedvtna personally, I do not find the slightest
problem, I can defend myself."
He continued: "But I ask for justice and fairness, I can not bear any
responsibility for the actions of members of the Executive Committee."
He added: "I do not also take responsibility for the actions of members of the Executive Committee in their country."
Blatter pointed out that although most of the talk is focused on the
FIFA presidential election is seen to reform within the organization as
the most important task.
Blatter wrote: "fill the void in the post of President is just a side
issue even though they have the lights but I invite the members of the
General Assembly not to distract them this case because the future of
FIFA is at stake".
He continued: "In European circles, there is only one issue, the FIFA
presidential election, but the reforms that we can not be applied so far
are the most important, need to be honest and clear intention of the
Executive Committee and the General Assembly."
He added: "We need changes in the FIFA structures until we are above
reproach", repeating his call for periodic reviews of independent
commissions to measure the level of integrity within the institution and
the election of members of the Executive Committee by the members of
the General Assembly of FIFA and restrictions on extended hold office.
Blatter
also responded to his critics in the UEFA, saying: "To this day the
Committee on the values of the European Union does not exist, as well
as in the German Football Federation."
